monofruit 1999 - 2001

I began to exhibit my Fruit Portraits at Galerie Alex Wiberg in Stockholm and felt I had more to make out of this idea. So I did a project for the World Trade Centre in  Stockholm, in their atrium placing my paintings in the midst of their indoor conservatory. I did 12 paintings, all in the format 100x100cm. To achieve an harmonious look, I painted the background in yellow, ocre and white with painting knife. The fruit motive then covered almost all of the surface of the canvas, painted with a light brush draw. You could see the background through the varnished fruit which gave the painting a three dimensional appearance. All the portraits where placed on chevalets around the atrium garden between the big green plants.
